Building Community through Music and the Performing Arts
This month's CAP grantee spotlight is The Lansing Area Performance Hall, located at 1004 Auburn Road in North Lansing. The Hall is the former Lansing Faith Bible Fellowship Church, purchased in 2020 by the not-for-profit service organization The Savage Club of Ithaca.
Since then, they have diligently repaired and renovated this historic building, turning it into a 100-seat performance space that is freely available to the community for rehearsals or performances! Their goal is to build community through the lifelong pursuit and joy of the arts through programming, fundraising and a grant program that distributes funds to aspiring performers and area arts organizations!
Two of their public programs are funded through CAP's "Grants for Arts Program" (GAP) Grant. Their Jazz Stars Series showcases professional jazz musicians alongside area high school students, offering accessible jazz music in rural Lansing.
The Poetry Meets Music Series, features a year round diverse group of poets with live music accompaniment.

CAP's GAP Grant supports artistic programs open to the Tompkins County general public. Grants are made possible by New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature. Funds are available statewide to make exemplary arts programming available to geographically, ethnically, and racially diverse segments of the State's population.
