Many of my paintings are large-scale, often on multiple canvases, and are perfect for corporate and institutional settings or homes with high ceilings.
They are landscapes in the broadest sense - internal and external - and my aim is to communicate the elation of the creative process, my work rests on the energy of the gesture, the visible trace of the process, and the coherence of carefully controlled elements, with textures ranging from thickly layered to ephemeral.
During my years as a painter I have moved from representational to abstract art. I found that though I loved doing still life and botanical work, what fascinates me most is the palpable energy of the paint itself and its limitless potential for nuance and texture. I moved from close rendering of flowers, fruit, fish and figures to interiors, landscapes, clouds and seas and then, one day, the horizon line disappeared.
I am also on the Greater Ithaca Art Trail at www.ArtTrail.com
