I grew up in a photographer's home. My Dad worked at Cornell's natural resources department as their chief photographer, and my best hours were spent with him in his darkroom, learning the magic that was photography.

In 1996 I began to photograph weddings and portraits as a business, and in 2010 I opened IthacaStock.com as a venue where local photographic artists could display and market their work. Monroe Payne Photography encompasses my commercial, personal and group photography.

My goal, in creating an image is not to merely show things or people, but to capture the aura that surrounds them, the "glow", which makes them the awesome, unique beings they are, with the love and joy that binds them together. Emotions, relationships and fun, all wrapped up in a totally enjoyable experience is what my photography is about.
