My work does not explore the balance of power between subject and photographer as much as rely on it. Ultimately, it is balance which informs my portraiture and "documentary style" photographs. My projects are collaborative and grounded in a working agreement between photographer and subject.
Images are rooted in traditional photographic concepts and weighted toward observation; they explore the lyricism, vibrancy, complexity and irony of life and of photographing. I am intrigued and influenced by vernacular culture.
Digital and film; color and black/white. I have created images for families, recording artists and publications.
