Creating Opportunities for the Arts, Artists, and Audiences of Tompkins County

I am an Ithaca College Alumni reemerging as a regional abstract artist. Today, I look forward to sharing with the community the dedication of the arts in my life and the growth and direction of my art as the result of perseverence and use of the acrylic medium.
Trained vigorously in oils and traditional technique, acrylics brought out a new diversity in my work. I first handled acrylics because I desired to paint again, but was raising young children at home, and the harmful fumes associated with oils meant this medium was not an option to work with. The boldness of acrylic color lead to boldness of form and more distinct linear quality in my work, but with the choice to allow for some areas of rich detail as well.
Since this encounter I have developed a distinct abstract style, and I have also broadened, and stretched from here to other materials, such as mixed media charcoals. I am currently working on a mural project I am sure will push me even further as an artist.
